Cornfield, White Lead Upstate to a Sixth Place Finish at Camden Collegiate Invitational

Camden, S.C. – Ryan Cornfield and Taylor White each carded scores of 216 this weekend during the Camden Collegiate Invitational to tie for 15th place and give the USC Upstate men's golf team a sixth place performance during the two-day tournament held at the Camden Country Club.
The Spartans had an overall score of 875 following their final round 289.
Cornfield turned in his lowest round of the weekend on Sunday with an ever-par 70 and finished at 6-over for the weekend. The senior began play on Saturday with scores of 75 and 71 before cutting one stroke off his mark during the final day. Cornfield has finished tied for 15th or better in each of his three events this season.
White recorded his best individual finish of the fall as he also tied with Cornfield for 15th place. The junior carded a final round 72 to end tournament play with a 6-over 216.
Following White in the individual standings was Sebastian Lopez Bulla who finished in a tie for 26th place. Lopez Bulla had a third round score of 76 and ended play at the Camden Collegiate Invitational with a 9-over 219.
Matt Carter had the second-lowest round on Sunday after finishing with a 1-over 71, cutting six strokes off his rounds of 77 posted on the first day. Carter contributed a 225 to place in a tie for 45th.
Tom Schofield rounded out the team scoring for Upstate in a tie for 68th place after concluding play with a 237 capped by his final round 82.
Trey Taylor and Andrew Purcell logged finishes of tied for 51st and 68th playing as individuals. Taylor matched his second round score 75 to finish at 227, while Purcell added a 237 following his 77 in the third round.
South Carolina won the Camden Collegiate Invitational with a three-round score of 838. Keenan Huskey of South Carolina took home individual medalist honors with his score of 205 (-5).
The Spartans conclude their fall season Nov. 1-3 at the Wendy's Kiawah Intercollegiate from Turtle Point Golf Course in Kiawah Island, S.C.
