
Upstate Closes Out Fall Schedule at CSU Kiawah Classic

Spartanburg, S.C. – The USC Upstate men's golf team finishes its fall season at the CSU Kiawah Classic beginning Sunday as the Spartans are one of 22 teams competing at the three-day event from Turtle Point Golf Club on Kiawah Island.
The Spartans are sending out a five-man lineup for the three-round event in Ryan Cornfield, Taylor White, Sebastian Lopez Bulla, Trey Taylor and Matt Carter.
Upstate is competing in a strong 22-team field that includes seven ranked in the top 75 nationally according to Golfstat in Duke, Georgia Tech, Augusta, Missouri, Virginia, host Charleston Southern and College of Charleston. The CSU Kiawah Classic is a 54-hole event that will last Sunday-Tuesday at the par 72, 7061-yard golf course.
The Turtle Point Golf Course is a Jack Nicklaus designed course that has been rated 48th on Golf Digest's 100 Greatest Public Golf Course List.
The Spartans have competed in four events during the fall with the last coming Oct. 24-25 at the Camden Collegiate Invitational where they placed sixth out of 11 teams. Cornfield and White led Upstate individually as they tied for 15th place, while Lopez Bulla tied for 26th. Carter posted a tie for 45th in his first collegiate tournament and Tom Schofield rounded out the team scoring in a tie for 68th place.
Playing as individuals, Taylor and Andrew Purcell logged finishes of tied for 51st and 68th, respectively.
