Cornfield, Lopez Bulla Shoot Opening Round 73 at Wolfpack Intercollegiate

Raleigh, N.C. – Ryan Cornfield and Sebastian Lopez Bulla currently sit in a tie for 15th place at the Wolfpack Intercollegiate following first round scores of 73 to lead the USC Upstate men's golf team Monday at the Lonnie Poole Golf Course.
Cornfield and Lopez Bulla turned in the top individual scores for Upstate as it finished the first round in 12th place with a team score of 300. A total of eight strokes separate the Spartans from third place North Carolina State and UT-Chattanooga who concluded with rounds of 292 on Monday.
West Virginia leads the Wolfpack Intercollegiate after shooting a first round 289, while WVU's Max Sear and Robin Petersson of Augusta are tied for the individual lead with scores of 68 (-3).
Lopez Bulla ended the first day with four birdies and ranked third in par-4 scoring with a 1-under score. Overall, the senior carded a 73 (+2) and picked up a pair of birdies each on the front- and back-nine.
Cornfield also finished with a 73 (+2) on day one as he is tied with Lopez Bulla in the individual standings. The senior opened with a 2-over score on his first nine holes, but responded nicely on the back-nine by registering two birdies over the final six holes for an even-par. Cornfield equaled Lopez Bulla with four birdies on the day.
Taylor White sits just one stroke behind Cornfield and Lopez Bulla after turning in a score of 74 (+3). White got off to a solid start on his final nine holes by taking a birdie on the 10th but lost it a few holes later with a bogey on the 14th. He answered back on the 15th hole with his second, and final, birdie of the day.
Tom Schofield and Trey Taylor are both tied for 79th place as the duo fired first round scores of 80.
The final round of the Wolfpack Intercollegiate will tee off at 8 a.m. Tuesday morning.
