
Upstate Hosts Bob Jones, Southern Wesleyan this Week in First Home Games of Season

Spartanburg, S.C. – After beginning its 2015-16 season with two straight games on the road, the USC Upstate women's basketball team returns to the Hodge Center this week to face Bob Jones and Southern Wesleyan in its first home games of the year.
The Spartans will host Bob Jones at 7 p.m. Tuesday evening before entertaining Southern Wesleyan at 5 p.m. on Thursday.
Upstate enters the week with a 1-1 overall record after splitting both road games last weekend at Norfolk State and Maryland Eastern Shore.
Brittany Starling recorded her 24th career double-double during Sunday's loss to Maryland Eastern Shore with a team-high 22 points and 10 rebounds after shooting 11-of-18 from the field. Travonda Haddock also set a new career-high against UMES with seven assists. In the season-opening victory over Norfolk State, Kristen Dickerson posted a career-best 22 points, while Raven Jefferson added 19 points, eight rebounds and five assists.
Starling is one of four Spartans averaging in double-figures this season with a team-leading 15.5 points and 12.5 rebounds. Dickerson (13.5), Jefferson (11.5) and Brittany Clency (11.0) are also averaging over 10 points per game.
As a team, Upstate leads the A-Sun in offensive rebounds and blocks, and are second in both in scoring and rebounding. The Spartans are averaging 70.5 points per game this season and giving up 70.0 per contest. Starling ranks second in the league in rebounds per game, seventh in scoring and ninth in field goal percentage. Dickerson is also fourth in field goal percentage; while Haddock and Jefferson are sixth and seventh, respectively, in assists.
Upstate and Bob Jones are meeting for the first time in program history on Tuesday while the Spartans hold a 5-1 lead all-time against Southern Wesleyan including a 4-0 home record. Upstate and Southern Wesleyan are facing each other for the first time since the 1993-94 season when the Spartans won by a score of 70-58.
