Upstate Concludes Road Trip at UNC Asheville

Spartanburg, S.C. - The USC Upstate women's basketball team will conclude a three-game stint away from the Hodge Center with a non-conference matchup against UNC Asheville at Kimmel Arena on Friday.
The Spartans and Bulldogs will face off at 3 p.m. The Spartans enter the contest with a 4-2 overall record having split the first two games of their road trip. Upstate defeated IPFW 84-81 on Saturday before falling to Michigan 119-61 on Monday.
Raven Jefferson tied a season-high with 19 points and had a season-best .857 field goal percentage in Monday's contest. Tamera Thorpe scored 10 points and finished in double figures for the second consecutive game and for the third time in her last four games.
Heading into Friday's matchup at UNCA, Upstate leads the Atlantic Sun in scoring, rebounding, offensive rebounds, blocks and free throws made per game, and is second in steals and assists. Brittany Starling leads the league in total rebounds (83), rebounds per game (13.8), and is second in points per game (18.5), and third in field goal percentage (55.1). Travonda Haddock leads the A-Sun in blocks with 1.5 per game, followed by Starling with 1.2. Haddock is also tied for ninth with 26 rebounds. Kristen Dickerson is tied for eighth in three point field goal percentage, making 42.1 percent of her shots from behind the arc. Raven Jefferson is ninth in the league with 2.8 assists per game, followed by Haddock in 10th (2.5). Jefferson and Dickerson are tied for 10th in the A-Sun with 1.5 steals per game.
UNC Asheville is 3-1 following a 67-45 victory at Western Carolina on Tuesday. The Bulldogs have also defeated Wofford (70-63) and Montreat (89-41). UNC Asheville is 6-5 all-time against Upstate although the Spartans claimed a 67-60 victory in the Hodge Center on Dec. 21, 2014. The Spartans also won in their last visit to Kimmel Arena, a 67-66 victory on Dec. 7, 2013.
