
Upstate Hosts UNCG on Tuesday

Spartanburg, S.C. - Following a three-game road trip, the USC Upstate women's basketball team returns to the friendly confines of the Hodge Center on Tuesday night to face UNCG.
The battle between the schools with Spartan nicknames will begin at 7 p.m. Upstate holds a 4-3 record following a 68-59 loss at UNC Asheville on Friday afternoon. Brittany Clency led the Spartans with 17 points and tied a career high with three three-pointers. Travonda Haddock scored 13 points and was 5-for-11 from the field. Brittany Starling pulled down a game-high 13 rebounds, 10 of which were defensive rebounds.
Upstate returns to the Hodge Center for the first time since an 84-51 victory over Southern Wesleyan on Nov. 19 and is 2-0 in home games during the 2015-16 season.
Brittany Starling leads the Atlantic Sun Conference in rebounds (96), offensive rebounds (31), defensive rebounds (65) and rebounds per game (13.7). Starling is second in the league in points (119), points per game (17.0) and field goal percentage (53.4). Travonda Haddock is third in the league with 1.3 blocks per game.
As a team, Upstate leads the A-Sun in scoring, rebounding, free throws made, free throws attempted, and blocks. The Spartans are third in steals and fourth in assists.
UNCG is 3-3 following an 81-60 home victory over Longwood on Saturday. UNCG has wins over Longwood, High Point and Pfeiffer with losses against South Carolina, Francis Marion and High Point. The all-time series is tied 2-2 following a 69-60 Upstate victory in Greensboro, N.C. on Nov. 20, 2014. This year's meeting is the first between the two teams at the Hodge Center since Feb. 13, 1991.
