
Upstate Travels to Georgia Tech on Saturday

Spartanburg, S.C. - The USC Upstate women's basketball team hits the road on Saturday, heading to Atlanta to face Georgia Tech inside McCamish Pavilion at 2 p.m.
Upstate (5-3) enters Saturday's game after an 84-61 victory over UNCG in the Hodge Center on Tuesday night. Travonda Haddock finished with her first career double-double after scoring 12 points and pulling down a team-leading 10 rebounds. Brittany Starling scored 21 points as she eclipsed the 20 point mark for the fifth time this season and 10th time in her career. Starling moved into 12th place on Upstate's career scoring list with 1,146 points. Raven Jefferson scored 14 points, with Kristen Dickerson adding 12 points.
Starling sits atop the Atlantic Sun in rebounds and is ranked second in blocks. She enters Saturday's game third in the A-Sun in scoring. Haddock is fourth in the conference in blocks. Raven Jefferson is ranked ninth in the league in blocks. As a team, Upstate leads the A-Sun in scoring, rebounding, offensive rebounds, free throws attempted and blocks.
Georgia Tech is 5-3 following a 69-60 loss at Indiana on Wednesday during the Big Ten/ACC Challenge. The Yellow Jackets have wins against Loyola Chicago, St. Francis Brooklyn, Southeastern Louisiana, Alabama State and High Point. Aaliyah Whiteside, Katarina Vuckovic and Roddreka Rogers are each averaging in double-figures as Whiteside leads the team with 21.6 points per game and 7.8 rebounds per game. Vuckovic averages 11.1 points per game and 6.6 rebounds per game, with Rogers averaging 11.0 points per game and 6.9 rebounds per game. Imani Tifford leads the team with 25 steals.
Saturday's game is the second meeting all-time between the USC Upstate and Georgia Tech. The Yellow Jackets won the first meeting in the series, 92-45, on December 6, 2007 in Alexander Memorial Coliseum.
