Upstate Completes Day One of Bridgestone Match Play

Braselton, Ga. – The USC Upstate men's golf team opened its 2015-16 season Sunday by falling to Lipscomb 4-2 during the first day of the Bridgestone Match Play held at the par 72, 7033-yard Legends at Chateau Elan.
Upstate's second match of the day against Jacksonville was suspended due to darkness and will continue at 8:30 a.m. Monday morning. The teams will finish the final holes of their match before beginning the third round at 10 a.m.
Taylor White and Sebastian Lopez Bulla picked up the two victories for the Spartans on Sunday with White playing in the second position and Lopez Bulla the third. White defeated Eric Ansett 3&2 while Lopez Bulla topped Dowling Armstrong 3&1.
Ryan Cornfield, playing in the final pairing with White, dropped his No. 1 match against Dawson Armstrong 3&2. Trey Taylor fell to Mikey Feher in the No. 4 match 2&1 and Thomas Schofield was defeated by Jake Dines 3&1 during the No. 5 match. Playing in his first collegiate event for Upstate, Matt Carter suffered a 5&4 loss to Hunter Howell in the No. 6 contest.
