
Spartans Travel to West Virginia, South Carolina State

Spartanburg, S.C. - The USC Upstate women's basketball team will hit the road for two games in three days as the Spartans face No. 13 West Virginia on Saturday at 6:30 p.m. before a road trip to South Carolina State on Monday at 7 p.m.
Upstate is 4-5 following a 92-50 win over Bob Jones on Saturday. Raven Jefferson scored a career-high 30 points and pulled down 10 rebounds for her first career double-double. Jefferson also tied a career-high with six steals. A'Lexxus Davis scored a career-best 14 points with Brittney Delva dishing out eight assists.
Jefferson leads the ASUN with 22 steals and is fifth in the league with 124 points.
West Virginia is 9-0 and ranked 13th in the Associated Press Poll and 14th in the USA Today Sports Coaches poll. The Mountaineers earned a 66-61 victory over Ole Miss on Sunday in the SEC/Big 12 Challenge. Tynice Martin leads the Mountaineers with an average of 19.0 points per game while Lanay Montgomery is the leading rebounder with 10.0 rebounds per game. Saturday's game is the second all-time meeting with West Virginia winning the first meeting 75-45 on Nov. 17, 2012. Mike Carey is in his 16th season in Morgantown and is 331-171.
South Carolina State is 3-3 following a 67-62 loss at Charleston Southern on Sunday. The Bulldogs have victories over Winthrop, Morris College and St. Andrews University with losses against Georgia, Wofford and Charleston Southern. Bryeasha Blair leads the Bulldogs with an average of 22.3 points per game. Jahmia Bradley is the leading rebounder with 7.3 rebounds per game. Upstate leads the all-time series 3-2 following a 60-50 loss in Orangeburg on Nov. 25, 2014. Doug Robertson, Jr. is in his ninth season behind the bench at South Carolina State with a 104-135 record at the school.

Upstate returns to the Hodge Center next week to face a pair of Big South Conference teams. The Spartans welcome Campbell at 7 p.m. on Thursday before facing UNC Asheville at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
