
Spartans Host Jacksonville in A-Sun Finale

Spartanburg, S.C. – The USC Upstate baseball team will conclude the 2016 season this weekend as they host Jacksonville University at Harley Park in a three-game Atlantic Sun Conference series. The series begins on Thursday at 6 p.m., followed by a Friday evening contest at 6 p.m. and the series finale at 1 p.m. on Saturday. Friday is also Senior Day with five players being honored prior to the game.
Upstate is 20-29 following a 3-1 road loss to Presbyterian College on Tuesday. The Spartans are 3-14 in the A-Sun after being swept at North Florida last weekend. Upstate won its last A-Sun home series as the Spartans won the Friday and Saturday matchups against FGCU two weekends ago.
The Spartans lead the A-Sun with 21 triples and are 10th in the nation with .43 triples per game. Tyler Jackson is second in the league with 79 strikeouts.
Jacksonville is 32-18 overall and 13-5 in the league. The Dolphins were rained out against South Florida on Tuesday and swept NJIT in a league series last weekend. Jacksonville holds a 16-8 edge in the all-time series.
