Bedell, Carter Lead Upstate after First Day of Wolfpack Fall Intercollegiate

Raleigh, N.C. – Reid Bedell and Matt Carter both sit inside the top-15 to lead the USC Upstate men's golf team at the Wolfpack Fall Intercollegiate as the Spartans opened play on Monday at the par 72, 7,358-yard Lonnie Poole Golf Course.

Upstate posted rounds of 296 and 291 and currently sits in ninth place, three strokes behind UNC Greensboro, with a combined score of 587.

North Carolina and host N.C. State lead the Wolfpack Fall Intercollegiate after day one at 560. Individually, Stephen Franken of N.C. State sits atop the leaderboard at 13-under 131.

A LOOK AT THE SCORECARD

Bedell will enter the final round of competition on Tuesday tied for 10^th place following his two-round score of 141 (71-70) while Carter is tied for 12^th at 142 (74-68).
Bedell combined for 13 birdies on Monday highlighted by eight in the first round to begin tournament play.
Jordan Warnock had rounds of 73 and 72 to sit three strokes back of Bedell and Carter in a tie for 32^nd place at 145.
The Spartans concluded first day action second among the tournament field with 39 birdies while also contributing 92 pars.
Upstate carded a 3.10 stroke average in par 3 scoring, 4.38 stroke average in par 4 scoring and 4-under 4.92 stroke average in par 5 scoring.
Carter and Bedell are the top individual performers for the Spartans in par 4 and 5 scoring. The duo has an even-par 4.00 stroke average in par 4 scoring and 4-under 4.60 stroke average in par 5 scoring.
On par 3 holes, Hunter Fry leads the team with an even-par 3.00 stroke average.
Warnock finished the day with a 2-under 4.80 stroke average in par 5 scoring.
Carter matched his career-low score of 68 in the second round which he initially carded last season during the Wolfpack Fall Intercollegiate.
