
Upstate Finishes Fall Schedule at East Bay Deli Classic

Spartanburg, S.C. – The USC Upstate men's golf team closes out the fall portion of its schedule Sunday through Tuesday when it travels to Kiawah Island, S.C. for the East Bay Deli Classic hosted by Charleston Southern from the par 72, 6,911-yard Turtle Point Golf Course.
The East Bay Deli Classic is a 54-hole tournament played over the course of three days with each featuring 18 holes of golf. The first two rounds on Sunday and Monday will tee off at 8 a.m. The final 18 holes on Tuesday begin at 9 a.m.
Upstate is one of 15 teams competing in the tournament along with Charleston Southern, College of Charleston, Coastal Carolina, Chattanooga, Francis Marion, Jacksonville State, High Point, Memphis, Presbyterian College, Rutgers, Stetson, Tennessee, Western Carolina and Winthrop.
The Spartans will be sending out a six-player lineup consisting of Conner Conkel, Sun Paripunna, Hunter Fry, Reid Bedell, Jordan Warnock and Matt Carter. Sam Merrell is competing as an individual.
Upstate is on the course for the second straight week after competing last week at the Camden Collegiate Invitational in Camden, S.C. The Spartans finished tied for ninth place led individually by Carter who posted the second top-10 performance of his career finishing tied for seventh place. Carter led the tournament with 42 pars and added a 4-under par 4.56 stroke average in par 5 scoring.
As a team, Upstate recorded 164 pars, second-best among the tournament field, and 28 birdies. The Spartans also compiled a 5-under 4.89 stroke average in par 5 scoring while adding a 3.23 stroke average in par 3 scoring and 4.37 stroke average in par 4 scoring.
