Bedell Sits Tied for Eighth after First Round of East Bay Deli Classic

Kiawah Island, S.C. – Reid Bedell currently sits inside the top-10 to lead the USC Upstate men's golf team following first round action at the East Bay Deli Classic on Sunday from the par 72, 6,911-yard Turtle Point Golf Course.

Upstate battled strong winds on Sunday to post a team score of 320 to sit in 11^th place overall. A total of four strokes separate the Spartans from College of Charleston in sixth place and nine from High Point in fourth place.

Tennessee leads the East Bay Deli Classic by six strokes over Rutgers at 10-over par 298. Art Griffin of Charleston Southern and Adam Gray of Rutgers are tied atop the individual leaderboard by one stroke over four players at even-par 72.

A LOOK AT THE SCORECARD

Bedell finished the opening round at 3-over 75 and currently sits just three strokes back of leaders Griffin and Gray. He is one of six players tied for eighth place.
Bedell leads Upstate in par 4 scoring after posting a 2-under par 4.20 stroke average on Sunday.
Sun Paripunna is tied for first among the tournament field in par 5 scoring with two players at 3-under and a 4.25 stroke average.
Paripunna and Matt Carter are tied for the team-lead in birdies as each have collected three after one round.
Conner Conkel leads the Spartans in par 3 scoring at even-par with a 3.00 stroke average.
Sam Merrell, playing as an individual, was the top performer for Upstate in pars after registering 11 while Hunter Fry is one behind with 10.
