
Spartans Host Crosstown Foe Converse on Tuesday

Spartanburg, S.C. – After a pair of games on the road, the USC Upstate women's basketball team returns to the G.B. Hodge Center on Tuesday afternoon to face Converse at 5 p.m.
Upstate is 0-4 following an 87-56 loss at Virginia Tech on Friday and a 69-49 defeat at Campbell on Sunday. Tamera Thorpe led Upstate with 22 points on Friday while Diamon Shiflet recorded a career-high 10 points yesterday. Rylie Parkhurst grabbed a career-best five rebounds on Sunday to lead Upstate.
Thorpe is Upstate's leading scorer as she has an average of 10.3 points per game. Anda Kuzmina is second on the team with 9.5 points per game while Morgan Williams has 9.3 points per game. Williams leads the Spartans with 6.0 rebounds per game.
Converse is 4-2 after claiming its fourth straight win on Saturday with a 66-63 victory over Mars Hill. Abigail Lewis leads the team with 12.2 points per game followed by Brianna James with 11.6 points per game. Nigeria Davis has a team-best 9.2 rebounds per game. Dean Walsh is in his third season as head coach and 20th overall.
