
Spartans Host UNC Asheville on Saturday

Spartanburg, S.C. – Following a week off for exams, the USC Upstate women's basketball team will return to action Saturday as the Spartans welcome UNC Asheville to the Hodge Center for a 2 p.m. contest.
Upstate is 3-8 following a 63-44 win over South Carolina State on Dec. 9. Anda Kuzmina led the Spartans with 12 points followed by Rylie Parkhurst with 11 points and Brittney Delva with 10 points.
Kuzmina was named ASUN Freshman of the Week on Tuesday after she averaged 10.5 points in two games last week. Kuzmina grabbed a career-high five rebounds against William & Mary on Tuesday and had a career-high five field goals as she led the Spartans with 12 points in Upstate's 63-44 win over South Carolina State on Saturday.
UNC Asheville is 1-7 following a 67-56 loss to Mercer on Sunday. The Bulldogs lone win came against Warren Wilson with losses against Western Carolina, NC State, Charlotte, Davidson, Middle Tennessee State and Wofford. Khaila Webb leads the Bulldogs with 12.6 points per game followed by Bronaza Fitzgerald with 11.7 and Zip Scott with 10.7. Fitzgerald is the leading rebounder with 7.9 rebounds per game.
Saturday's game is the 14th all-time meeting with UNC Asheville holding an 8-5 advantage. The Bulldogs claimed a 70-59 victory at the Hodge Center on Dec. 17, 2016.
