
Spartans Welcome South Carolina State on Saturday

Spartanburg, S.C. – The USC Upstate women's basketball team will play the first of two consecutive Saturday home games as the Spartans welcome South Carolina State to the G.B. Hodge Center at 2 p.m.
Upstate is 2-8 following an 83-63 loss at William & Mary on Tuesday night. Rylie Parkhurst and Riley Popplewell each scored 12 points in the loss. Michaela Gibbons added a career-high seven points while Anda Kuzmina led Upstate with a career-high five rebounds.
South Carolina State is 2-3 with wins over Winthrop and Columbia International and losses against Georgia Tech, Clemson and Georgia Southern. The Lady Bulldogs have been idle since Nov. 28. Bryeasha Blair leads South Carolina State with 12.0 points per game while Jaquanna Murray is the top rebounder with 6.8 rebounds per game.
Saturday's meeting is the sixth all-time between the schools with Upstate holding a 4-2 advantage following a 73-67 overtime win in Orangeburg, S.C. last season. The Spartans are 2-0 against South Carolina State in games played inside the G.B. Hodge Center.
