Spartanburg, S.C. – Virginia Tech scored six runs in the final four innings as the Hokies completed a weekend sweep of USC Upstate thanks to an 8-2 win at Harley Park on Sunday afternoon.

Virginia Tech improves to 3-0 while Upstate drops to 0-3.

Scoring Breakdown

Top 3^rd – Jack Owens reached on a leadoff walk and scored on a Nick Anderson single.
Bottom 4^th – Devon Ortiz led off the inning with an infield single. Ortiz advanced to second on a wild pitch and moved to third on a Charlie Carpenter groundout. J.J. Shimko brought home Ortiz with a single and advanced to third on a Brendan Brundage base hit before a strikeout ended the inning.
Top 5^th – Owens led off the inning with a single, advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt and scored on a Tom Stoffel double.
Bottom 5^th – Jordan Miller led off the inning with a single and advanced to third thanks to a sacrifice bunt and a wild pitch. Drake Harris drove in Miller with a single.
Top 6^th – Joe Freiday, Jr. hit a solo home run with one out.
