
Upstate Back on the Tee Box at Southern Intercollegiate Championships

Spartanburg, S.C. – The USC Upstate men's golf team will be back in action on Monday at the Southern Intercollegiate Championships, a one day, 36-hole tournament hosted by Georgia at the par 72, 6917-yard Athens Country Club.
The 36-hole tournament will consist of shotgun starts at 9 a.m. and 2 p.m.
Upstate will be sending out a five-player lineup for the one-day event of Taylor White, Matt Carter, Jordan Warnock, Andrew Purcell and Hunter Fry.
Joining the Spartans in the tournament field are host Georgia, Oklahoma, Kennesaw State, Lipscomb, Youngstown State, Chattanooga, Francis Marion, Arkansas, Stetson, Furman, Gardner-Webb, Savannah State, Ohio State, Western Carolina and Florida State.
Three of the 16 teams competing are ranked in the latest Golfstat rankings in Oklahoma (No. 13), Georgia (No. 19) and Arkansas (No. 24).
Upstate finished tied for fifth place at last season's Southern Intercollegiate Championships as White led the way individually tying for 15th with back-to-back rounds of 72. Carter placed in a tie for 50th while Purcell rounded out the individual standings for the Spartans tied for 69th place.
Carter posted a team-best finish for Upstate last week at the Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate in Aiken after tying for 42nd place. Warnock was the second-highest Spartan finisher as he tied for 65th and White followed in a tie for 77th position. Fry concluded the tournament in a tie for 84th place.

The Spartans make the short trip to Greenville on Mar. 24-26 for the Furman Intercollegiate at the Furman Golf Course.
