
Upstate Makes Short Trip to Greenville this Weekend for Furman Intercollegiate

Spartanburg, S.C. – The USC Upstate men's golf team will make the short drive to Greenville this weekend to participate in the 48th Annual Furman Intercollegiate from the par 72, 7,004-yard Furman University Golf Course.
The Spartans will be sending out a five-player lineup consisting of Jordan Warnock, Taylor White, Matt Carter, Sun Paripunna and Trey Taylor. Sean Stanistreet is also competing as an individual.
Upstate is one of 21 teams competing in the three-day tournament hosted by Furman. The other 20 teams taking part in the tournament are: USC-Aiken, Akron, Chattanooga, Clemson, Dartmouth, Francis Marion, Furman, Gardner-Webb, Georgia Southern, Harvard, James Madison, Marshall, Presbyterian College, Samford, Temple, Virginia Tech, West Virginia, Western Carolina, Wichita State and Wofford.
The teams will play 18 holes each day with tee times slated for 8:30 a.m. Friday and Saturday. The final round is scheduled to tee off at 9:30 a.m. Sunday morning with a shotgun start.
The Spartans are coming off an 11th place finish at the Southern Intercollegiate Championships on March 13 after concluding the 36-hole tournament with a total of score 614 (308-306). Warnock led Upstate individually by finishing tied for 18th place, his second top-20 performance of the season, with an even-par 144 (74-70). The second round 70 carded by Warnock is a new career-low score, and he finished the tournament tied for fifth with 24 pars, and tied for eighth in par 4 scoring along with White at even-par and a 4.00 stroke average.
The Spartans compiled 90 pars and 21 birdies in two rounds as White led the team with seven birdies. Warnock added six birdies, Hunter Fry five, Andrew Purcell two and Carter one.

Upstate will stay in town April 3-4 for The Coca-Cola Wofford Invitational at The Country Club of Spartanburg.
