
Carter Finishes Tied for 14th Place at Furman Intercollegiate

Greenville, S.C. – Matt Carter turned in a second straight round of 71 on Sunday afternoon during the final day of the Furman Intercollegiate and finished tied for 14th place to lead the USC Upstate men's golf team at the par 72, 7,004-yard Furman University Golf Course.
A total of four Spartans posted rounds in the 70's on Sunday as Upstate concluded the tournament in 15th place with a 54-hole score of 881 (294-293-294).
Carter totaled a 214 (72-71-71) for the tournament and finished at 2-under par. Taylor White was the second highest finisher for Upstate at tied for 48th with his final round 75 and was at 219 (73-71-75) overall. Jordan Warnock was two strokes back of White in a tie for 60th position after shooting a 73 in round three and compiled an overall score of 221 (72-76-73). Wrapping up his first collegiate tournament, Sun Paripunna finished in a tie for 105th place with a third round 75 and tallied a 229 (79-75-75). Trey Taylor had a final day 81 to round out the standings for the Spartans in a tie for 119th at 236 (77-78-81).
Playing as an individual, Sean Stanistreet placed in a tie for 109th with a combined score of 231 (80-76-75) following his third round 75.
Clemson had a final round 279 to win the Furman Intercollegiate by 14 strokes with a combined score of 835. Carson Young of Clemson held off Wes Gosselin of Chattanooga and Wofford's Andrew Novak to take home individual medalist honors at 11-under 205.
Upstate remains in town April 3-4 for The Coca-Cola Wofford Invitational held at The Country Club of Spartanburg.
