Warnock Posts Top-10 Finish at Season-Opening Bridgestone Stroke Play

Braselton, Ga. – Jordan Warnock was one of three USC Upstate men's golfers to finish 11^th or better at the season-opening Bridgestone Stroke Play on Tuesday as the sophomore finished in a tie for sixth place at the par 72, 6,971-yard Legends Course at Chateau Elan.

Upstate finished its first tournament of the fall season with rounds of 301 and 299 for a total score of 600. The Spartans were just one stroke back of third place Appalachian State and six from Gardner-Webb who placed second.

Jacksonville won the Bridgestone Stroke Play team championship with a 589 while Severin Soller of Georgia State, playing as an individual, took home individual medalist honors at 1-under 143.

A LOOK AT THE SCORECARD

Upstate led all teams at the Bridgestone Stroke Play in both par 5 scoring and birdies. The Spartans posted a score of 5-under par with a 4.90 stroke average on par 5 holes and tallied 31 birdies.
Upstate was also second among the tournament field in pars with 124.
The Spartans had a 3.38 stroke average on par 3 holes and 4.29 in par 4 scoring.
Warnock compiled his second career top-10 finish after placing in a tie for sixth last season at the Wofford Invitational.
Conner Conkel and Reid Bedell, playing in their first tournaments at Upstate, were the second highest performers for the Spartans after tying for 11^th place.
Sun Paripunna matched his career-low score of 75 in the second round.
Hunter Fry also tied his career-best round after carding a 76 during the final 18 holes.
