Bedell Cards Low Round for USC Upstate on Final Day of Sea Best Invitational

Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. – Reid Bedell had a final round 73 on Tuesday to lead the USC Upstate men's golf team individually as the Spartans concluded play at the Sea Best Invitational from the par 70, 6873-yard TPC Sawgrass – Dye's Valley Course.
USC Upstate compiled a third round 307 to finish the tournament in 13th place with a team score of 914 (299-308-307).
South Florida won the Sea Best Invitational after shooting a final round 281 and held off Arkansas by one stroke at 834. A three-way tie at the top of the individual leaderboard saw Ervin Chang of Liberty, Eric Ansett of Lipscomb and North Carolina's William Register tied at 6-under par 204. Chang would go on to take individual medalist honors after winning the one-hole playoff.
A LOOK AT THE SCORECARD
- The Sea Best Invitational field consisted of some of the top collegiate golf programs in the country ranked in the top 50 nationally including LSU (11), Arkansas (20), Duke (23), North Carolina (24), North Florida (27), Tennessee (28) and South Florida (43).
- The Spartans finished the tournament with a 3.35 stroke average in par 3 scoring, 4.44 stroke average in par 4 scoring and 5.13 stroke average in par 5 scoring.
- USC Upstate also recorded 152 pars and 21 birdies.
- Jordan Warnock was the top individual performer for the Spartans finishing tied for 53rd place with his final round 76 for a total score of 221 (75-70-76).
- Matt Carter tied for 70th place after shooting a third round 80 to finish at 230 (72-78-80) while Bedell and Sam Merrell were within one stroke of each other. Bedell was 73rd with a 233 (77-83-73) and Merrell 74th at 234 (76-77-81).
- Sun Paripunna rounded out the individual standings for USC Upstate in 78th place at 237 (76-83-78).
- Bedell's final round 73 was the lowest score of the day for the Spartans.
- Warnock led USC Upstate in par 3 scoring (3.17 stroke average), par 4 scoring (4.31 stroke average), par 5 scoring (2-under, 4.67 stroke average), pars (35) and birdies (6).
- Merrell tied Warnock for the team-lead in par 3 scoring with a 3.17 stroke average.
- Bedell contributed a 1-under, 4.83 stroke average in par 5 scoring while Merrell finished at even-par and a 5.00 stroke average.
- Merrell and Bedell each had five birdies, Carter added three and Paripunna two to go with the six turned in by Warnock.
