
Warnock Scores First Career Top-5 Finish at Mission Inn Spring Spectacular

Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla. – Jordan Warnock recorded the best performance of his career after shooting a final round 71 to finish runner-up as the USC Upstate men's golf team wrapped up play at the Mission Inn Spring Spectacular on Sunday from the par 72, 6834-yard Mission Inn Golf Resort.
USC Upstate carded a final round 302, tied for fifth-lowest on the day, and finished in fourth place with a team score of 892 (304-286-302).
TCU took home the team championship of the Mission Inn Spring Spectacular while David Ravetto, playing as an individual, won individual medalist honors by four strokes over Warnock at 7-under 209.
A LOOK AT THE SCORECARD
- The Mission Inn Spring Spectacular field consisted of some of the top programs nationally, according to the latest Golfstat rankings, in TCU (No. 27), Indiana (No. 104), Toledo (No. 111), Princeton (No. 149) and Florida Atlantic (No. 159).
- The fourth place finish is tied for best this season by the Spartans after beginning the year placing fourth at the Bridgestone Match Play.
- Warnock records the best individual finish for a USC Upstate golfer since Ryan Cornfield won the Furman Intercollegiate during the 2015-16 season.
- Warnock collects his first career top-5 finish with a tournament score of 213 (73-69-71).
- Matt Carter tallied his third career top-10 performance finishing in a tie for seventh place at 220 (76-70-74).
- Reid Bedell placed inside the top-20 after carding a three-round score of 226 (75-74-77) to finish tied for 19th.
- Hunter Fry and Sean Stanistreet rounded out the individual standings for the Spartans tied for 52nd and 58th places, respectively. Fry compiled a score of 237 (80-77-80) and Stanistreet 240 (87-73-80).
- Playing as individuals, Sun Paripunna finished tied for 32nd place and Sam Merrell 63rd. Paripunna carded a combined score of 230 (74-75-81) and Merrell 244 (91-79-74).
- The final round 74 by Merrell is a new career-low score.
- USC Upstate led the Mission Inn Spring Spectacular in par 3 scoring with a 3.13 stroke average.
- The Spartans were also third in pars (155) and birdies (40), fifth in par 4 scoring (4.29 stroke average) and sixth in par 5 scoring (5.08 stroke average).
- Warnock was first among the tournament field in par 3 scoring (-3, 2.75 stroke average) while leading the team in par 4 scoring (+1, 4.03 stroke average) and birdies (12). Warnock also collected one eagle to rank tied for second in the tournament.
- Carter ranked first at the Mission Inn Spring Spectacular with 41 pars.
- Carter and Paripunna led the team in par 5 scoring with a 2-under, 4.83 stroke average.
- Merrell paced the tournament field with two eagles.
- Along with the 12 birdies recorded by Warnock, Bedell added 11, Fry and Paripunna nine each, Carter five, Merrell four and Stanistreet three.
