Henderson Tabbed Big South Track Athlete of the Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Junior sprinter Jared Henderson has been named the Big South Conference Men's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week, the conference office announced Wednesday. The honor comes after a stellar performance at the Buccaneer Invitational in Johnson City this past Friday and Saturday.

The Seneca, N.C. native racked up two wins and a school record this past weekend to earn the title of Most Outstanding Male Track Athlete at the Buccaneer Invitational. Henderson raced to a mark of 6.86 seconds for a win in the 60m and a 21.37s mark to take gold in the 200m, breaking his own school record previously broken at the Clemson Opener in December.

His 6.82s mark in the 60m semis was just .02s shy of making the top 10 on the event record list, while his 200m time proved good for third in meet history.

Henderson and the Spartans return to action this weekend when they travel down to Columbia, S.C. to compete in the South Carolina Invitational February 7-8, 2020.
