Bryant, Uzor, Auguste Wrap Up Outdoor Season at NCAA East Prelims

JACKSOVILLE, Fla. – USC Upstate track & field was represented well this past week at the NCAA East Region Preliminary Round in Jacksonville. Angelnique Bryant, Adanma Uzor, and Tony Auguste competed for the Spartans among the best of the best as they wrapped up the 2021 outdoor season.
"The NCAA East Prelims was one of the best meeting in years. The east region saw a lot of records broken. Uzor, Bryant, and Auguste competed against the best athletes in the country and future Olympians. This was a learning experience for all of them. Angelnique Bryant walked away with a season-best. Her experience here two years ago paid off, and she was able to stick to her strengths," said head coach Carson Blackwelder.
Bryant ran her best 100 meter time of the season at 11.60 as she went into the meet ranked 46th and finished 34th. "The NCAA first round is a tough meet, so it is impressive that Angelnique was able to run a season best and compete with some of the best athletes in the country," said Coach Blackwelder.
Uzor entered the week ranked 48th in the triple jump, and left finishing 44th with a leap of 11.83m. "During her time at Upstate, Adanma has grown and become the dominating force in the Big South. Competing in the East Prelims has been an amazing way to close out her impressive career at Upstate," said Coach Blackwelder.
Auguste finished the men's hammer throw with a mark of 55.89m. "Tony continued to throw consistently good marks. Being his first time at the first round, it was a learning experience that he can use for the future," said Coach Blackwelder.
"All three of these athletes have NCAA meets in their future. They will learn from this experience and perform at a higher level in the future. We are proud of how far they have come in this COVID year, and we know they have higher goals to reach," said Coach Blackwelder.
