PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. – Hitting the course for the second time during the fall season, USC Upstate women's golf continued to ride its momentum from last spring as the program broke more records and secured more program firsts at the Sea Best Jacksonville Classic.
Â
Upstate finished the event with a fourth-place finish as it was one of two teams in the tournament field to claim a pair of top-five finishers as redshirt Beem Pabsimma and redshirt sophomore Praew Nontarux finished third and tied for fourth, respectively. Pabsimma claimed her fifth career top-five finish behind scores of 70-74-72-216 (E) while Nontarux tallied her sixth career top-five by carding scores of 68-74-76-218 (+2).
Â
As a team, the Spartans opened the event by carding the lowest round relative to par (three-under) in program history with an opening-round 285, marking down the second-lowest team round in program history for the second consecutive event.
Â
Upstate's opening round was spearheaded by three players posting scores of par or better as Nontarux tied the second-lowest round of her career with a 68 (-4) with the round tying for the fifth-lowest overall round and round relative to par in program history. In firing a 72 (E) in the first round, redshirt junior Kathryn Elliott carded the program's first-ever albatross as she holed out from 220 yards with a five-wood on Marsh Landing Country Club's par 5, 480-yard sixth hole.
Â
In addition to the team's historic opening round, Upstate also paced the field in pars, carding 180 total in the event. Individually, Pabsimma and Nontarux led the Spartans in the category, marking down 42 and 41 pars, respectively, to tie for first and third in the tournament field.

Coach Lawton on the finishes by Pabsimma and Nontarux...
"The finishes by Beem and Praew were once again as good as you'd hope.
Coach Lawton on building for future events...
"I think there's a lot of positivies to take away from this event, but we have a lot of work to do and we need to come together and create a complete team all three rounds of a tournament and then I think we can really challenge a lot of other teams.
