Career Efforts from Dupree and Hinkle Give Men's Golf Two Top-Five Finishers at a Conference Championship for the First Time in the D1 Era

NINETY SIX, S.C. – For the first time in the program's Division I era (2007-pres.), USC Upstate men's golf saw two players finish among the top-five finishers at a conference championship as two Spartans turned in career-best efforts to place in the top-five at the 2022 Big South Men's Golf Championship.

Sophomore Max Dupree and junior Brady Hinkle both posted career-low 54-hole totals to claim third and fifth-place finishes, respectively, as the stroke-play portion of the Big South Championship came to a close Friday afternoon. Dupree tied his career-low 54-hole total, fashioning a 208 behind rounds of 70-69-69 while Hinkle's 211 marked the lowest of his career as he posted scores of 70-71-70-211.

Joining Dupree and Hinkle in posting a season-low 54-hole total, senior Jackson Lyons posted a season-low 227 as he fashioned marks of 73-75-79. He finished just outside the top-30 at the event, placing 32^nd.

As a team, Upstate posted three sub-300 team rounds for the third time this season with the Big South Championship marking the first tournament to see the feat since the Carolina Collegiate Invite in October. The Spartans turned in totals of 293-290-295-878, finishing sixth on the final leaderboard following stroke play.

For the first time in the program's Division I era (2007-pres.), USC Upstate saw two golfers place in the top five at a conference championship as Max Dupree and Brady Hinkle finished third and fifth, respectively.
The Spartans' team total of 878 marked the team's second-lowest 54-hole total of the season, sitting behind the team's score of 868 at the Golfweek Program Challenge. The Big South Championship also marked the third event of the season to see Upstate post three sub-300 rounds.
En route to top-five placements, Dupree and Hinkle both carded career-low 54-hole totals. Jackson Lyons also posted a season-low total with his score of 227.
