Women's Golf Claims Third Straight Top Five to Open the Season, Placing Third at the Terrier Intercollegiate

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Competing on the team's home course and in the Upstate for the first time this season, USC Upstate women's golf captured its third straight top-five team finish—and second straight top-three finish—to open the season, finishing third at the Terrier Intercollegiate as play wrapped Tuesday afternoon.
Leading to the team's third-place finish, the Spartans fashioned scores of 306-299-299-904 as the team was the only of the field's 14 teams to turn in team 18-hole totals lower than 300 with two of the tournament's six sub-300 team rounds. Upstate also placed top three in each of the tracked statistical categories (Par-3, Par-4, & Par-5 scoring, total pars, and total birdies) being the only team at the Terrier Intercollegiate to do so.
Individually, each member of the team's five-player lineup and all six Spartans competing carded 54-hole totals of 234 or better with the Terrier Intercollegiate the first tournament this season to feature each member of the lineup with scores of 234 or better. Upstate also claimed two top-10 finishers, becoming one of two teams to feature multiple top-10 finishers at the event.
Leading the Spartans, sophomore Rylie Kosney marked down career-low 54 and 18-hole totals at the Terrier Intercollegiate, fashioning totals of 72-72-74-221 en route to a career-best sixth-place finish. Joining her in the top 10, redshirt senior Preaw Nontarux wrote in scores of 75-73-76-224, tying for 10th in the tournament field.

- The only team in the tournament field to finish in the top three in each of the five major statistical categories, Upstate led the Terrier Intercollegiate field in Par-5 Scoring (5.00; E) and total pars (156), ranked second in Par-3 Scoring (3.20; +12) and total birdies (39), and third in Par-4 Scoring (4.35; +52).
- Each member of the team's five-player lineup claimed a top-10 statistical finish at the Terrier Intercollegiate, the first time this season the lineup accomplished this feat. Leading to their top-10 individual finishes, Preaw Nontarux led the event in total pars (38) and Rylie Kosney finished fourth and tied for seventh, respectively, in Par-4 Scoring (4.10; +3) and total pars (34).
