Currier joins Frankenberg and Leger on USC Upstate athletics administrative team this semester
USC Upstate's Office of Development and Athletic Department has welcomed Maddi Currier to the #SpartanArmy as she takes on the role of Associate Athletic Director for Development. Currier will be the lead for gifts to the U-Club, team specific giving and annual fundraising events like Sparty's Party (Ball & Auction) and the Spartan Golf Classic.
No stranger to Spartanburg, Currier is a fundraiser with experience in formalizing systems, events and campaigns to ensure a donor-centric experience. She comes to USC Upstate from Hope Center for Children, where she served as Director of Development, leading all development efforts for the organization as well as serving as a member of the senior leadership team. Prior to being named DOD, she served as Development Associate for 4 years. During her time at HCFC, Currier energized HCFC's signature events, created the annual Giving Tuesday and Hope for the Holidays campaigns, and grew total fundraising efforts to more than $1.6 million annually.Â
Â
Currier was named the 2018 OneSpartanburg Ambassador of the Year, received a Diverse Scholar award from the Association of Fundraising Professionals (National) in 2020, and serves on the Association of Fundraising Professionals SC Piedmont Chapter Board and is the Chair of the City of Spartanburg Bicycle & Pedestrian Committee.
Â
Currier is a 2013 BA graduate of Converse University, where she was a member of the Women's Basketball team and served as class president. She also earned a Master of Nonprofit Management from the University of Central Florida ('16) and is a Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE).Â
Â
Currier is not the only recent addition to the USC Upstate athletics administrative staff.Â
In recent weeks, the staff has realigned positions and added two new staff members as well.
Dean Frankenberg assumes the role of Assistant Athletic Director for Internal Operations, which includes basketball ticketing and game operations.  He assumes the role formerly held by Nathan Dixon who has shifted to a fiscal analyst role within the athletic department with a direct line to the USC Upstate Business Office.
Frankenberg joined the #SpartanArmy from Belmont Abbey College where he was the Assistant Director of Facilities for the past year. While with the Crusaders, Frankenberg managed game day operations including handling visiting team interactions, crowd control, ticketing, security, and facility maintenance for game day needs. Â
Prior to his time at Belmont Abbey, Frankenberg served as a Graduate Assistant for Procurement and for Intramurals at Valdosta State University while he furthered his education. As a Graduate Assistant for Procurement, Frankenberg was responsible for purchase orders, order processing for the business accounts, records, documents, and maintaining meeting minutes. In his role overseeing intramurals operations, Frankenberg was responsible for leading and supervising 20 staff members as well as supervising each sporting event, arranging training schedules with game day officials and marketing staff, and completing administrative operations efficiently and effectively to progress special projects. Â
While attending Tiffin University, Frankenberg spent his time not only playing on the men's soccer team but also in the Student Support Center as a tutor. In his role as a tutor, Frankenberg supported students through mathematics and business courses, led peer assisted learning groups, scheduled and managed appointments and tutors while upholding and executing the policies and procedures of the Student Support Center to provide service and support to his peers. Â Â
Frankenburg received his Bachelor of Business Administration in Sport Management with a concentration in operations and a minor in marketing and finance from Tiffin University in 2018 and earned his Master of Business Administration in Administration and Management from Valdosta State University in 2020.
Â
In addition, USC Upstate welcomed a new director of video services this semester as well, as Brooks Leger becomes the primary lead for creative video and broadcast production for ESPN+ broadcasts.
Leger comes to the #SpartanArmy from Texas Tech University where he served as Director of Creative Services for the past year. While in Lubbock, Leger oversaw the day-to-day operations for creative content for all Red Raiders programs including video inventory, scheduling, project requests, equipment inventory and oversight of student workers and freelance employees. As part of the creative services duties he developed graphics, videos, print material and motion design for social media, print, ESPN+ features and special events.  He worked with a complete cross section of the TTU department including coaching staffs, the Red Raider Club, Double T Varsity Club, communications and broadcasting.
Â
Prior to Texas Tech, Leger spent five years serving at his alma mater of Belmont Abbey College in Belmont, N.C. as Coordinator of Marketing and Creative Media. While with the Crusaders he created the marketing strategy for the department while developing leadership in the department's overall digital strategy. Leger created social media campaigns, graphics and oversaw photography, video (creative and live streaming) in addition to forging local business partnerships for the department.
Â
Since 2018, he has also worked with Bleacher Report as a content moderator analyzing and overseeing the social media content posted and interactions for the BR app.
Â
Leger also served as a sports information graduate assistant at William Paterson University (N. J.) from 2014-16.
