Series History
Entering Tuesday's game, USC Upstate and Western Carolina have met just three times in the Spartans' Division I era (2007-pres.) with each meeting coming under head coach Mike McGuire (2020-pres.). The two teams split a pair of games last season with each winning on its home field, but the Catamounts lead the series 2-1, taking the first meeting between the two programs back in 2020.

Players to Watch
Upstate: Extending hit reached base streak to 13 games with his fifth homer of the year Sunday, redshirt junior shortstop Troy Hamilton enters the new week leading the Spartans in batting average, hitting .333 (37-for-111). He leads Upstate with 10 multi-hit games on the year and ranks second on the team with seven multi-RBI games. He's twice collected a four-hit game this season, doing so most recently against High Point on March 26, a game where he drove home three runs for the Spartans.
 
Western Carolina: Leading the team in batting average for the Catamounts, shortstop Pascanel Ferreras carries a .327 average (34-of-104) into Tuesday's midweek game. He also leads Western Carolina with 30 runs batted in on the year and drove home nine runs last weekend at Mercer with four RBI in game two and five in game three.
 
Up Next for the Spartans
Following a road midweek to break up the Spartans' string of six of seven games played at Cleveland S. Harley Park, Upstate returns to Spartanburg Thursday to begin a three-game Big South series against Longwood. The Spartans and Lancers are set for a 5 p.m. first pitch Thursday, a 5:00 p.m. first pitch Friday, and a 2:00 p.m. first pitch Saturday.
