SPARTANBURG, SC — The 9th Annual Josh Lee 5K Memorial Scholarship wrapped up with an impressive turnout, drawing 371 participants and raising over $90,000 for the Josh Lee Memorial Scholarship. Josh Lee, a 20-year-old USC Upstate cross-country athlete, was known for his infectious optimism and kindness, impacting everyone he met. His life was tragically cut short in a car accident in 2015, but his memory continues to inspire through this annual event.
Head Cross Country Coach Carson Blackwelder shared, "We couldn't have asked for a better day for a race. We had a great turnout and were able to honor Josh's memory."
USC Upstate extends its heartfelt thanks to event sponsors, including Exxon-White's Pine Street, Randi A. Berry, Contec, Cheryl and Wade Lang, and the Arkwright Foundation, for their support of this important cause.
"We are deeply grateful to all of our donors and sponsors for their incredible contributions, which make a huge impact on the lives of our student-athletes," added Blackwelder."
