PAWLEYS ISLAND, SC—The USC Upstate men's golf team concluded its participation at the Golfweek/AGT Intercollegiate hosted at True Blue Course. Despite facing challenges from a competitive field of nineteen teams, the Spartans managed to post scores of 306 and 299 in the first two rounds. Unfortunately, third-round play was interrupted due to adverse weather conditions.
Junior Jaskaran Sohal led the Spartans, carding rounds of 76 and 71. Sohal notably excelled on par 4s, positioning himself among the upper echelons of the field for the invitational.
Assistant Men's and Women's Golf Coach Matt Smith commented, "The guys showed many positive signs this week that we can continue building on to prepare for the Big South Championship. I'm very proud of how they finished the second round yesterday, playing the last five holes in 4 under par! Today was a battle with the weather, and although we did not finish the round, the team fought hard in tough conditions. We're excited to build strong momentum moving forward!"
Eric Luo, a sophomore at North Alabama, claimed the individual title. Luo shot an impressive 10 under par across the two rounds of play. Meanwhile, the Sharks of Long Island University secured the team championship with a collective score of -5 under par.
