PAWLEYS ISLAND, SC—The USC Upstate women's golf team concluded its performance at the Golfweek/AGT Intercollegiate with a fifth place finish out of a competitive field of 19 teams. Inclement weather conditions canceled play during the third round, adding an extra challenge to the tournament.
Sacramento sophomore Rylie Kosney was the Spartans' strength on the course, securing a tie for fourth place with impressive rounds of 73 and 69. Kosney's performance was noteworthy, as she excelled on par 3s and 4s, clinching a spot in the top 5 for scoring on both course lengths. Additionally, she tied for first in total birdies with nine across the two rounds.
Head Coach Todd Lawton reflected on the challenging conditions, remarking, "Today was a very tough day on the golf course. Sometimes, it's a good break that the weather has other plans, and sometimes it's not. Today, we benefit from it." Lawton expressed pride in the team's resilience, adding, "I'm proud of how hard this team fights and how much they want to get things done."
The collective effort of the Upstate Women's golf team was evident throughout the two rounds. Praew Nontarux delivered a solid performance, landing in the top 25 with scores of 71 and 75. Suwarin Yord-in had a strong finish in the first round, carding three birdies in her final seven holes on the back nine. Alexis Reili and Supatta Puttanavarat also made significant jumps in the leaderboard. Reili climbed six spots in the final round, and Puttanavarat improved her score by five strokes from the first to the second round.
North Dakota State freshman Norah Roberts claimed the individual title, maintaining her lead with scores of 69 and 71 to finish at +2. High Point University secured the team championship, delivering round scores of 290 and 284.
