SPARTANBURG, S.C. – After helping USC Upstate baseball to another historic season in 2024 and coming off one of his best seasons in a Spartan uniform, Troy Hamilton has inked a professional contract with the Frontier League's Evansville Otters, becoming the fourth Spartan to sign with the club since the end of the 2022 season.
Â
A Royal Palm Beach, Fla. native, Hamilton wraps his three-year Upstate career as one of the program's top hitters in the Division I era (2007-pres.), ranking top 10 in the era in 10 different statistical categories after appearing in 160 games—making 152 starts. Hitting 25 home runs and collecting 66 extra-base hits in his career, he ranks second and third in the era, respectively, in the two categories while also ranking third with 128 career runs scored.
Â
In 2024, he put forth his best season in an Upstate jersey, playing and starting in 59 games while posting career highs in hits (71), runs (58), doubles (15), home runs (16), RBI (42), total bases (136), and stolen bases (nine).
Â
Signing with the Otters, Hamilton becomes the seventh player to play under head coach Mike McGuire to sign with Evansville and the fourth in McGuire's five seasons at USC Upstate, joining Devin Buckner, Kevin Davis, and Noah Myers in signing with the club from Upstate.
