HOLLY SPRINGS, NC – USC Upstate's second fall competition, the 2024-2025 Wolfpack Intercollegiate, has been canceled due to rain in the Holly Springs area. The 13-team field, which included teams from New York to Alabama, will not be rescheduled. The region is experiencing localized flooding and is expected to have rain showers through tomorrow afternoon. The Spartans were 10 holes into the first round when conditions took a turn for the worse and play was suspended and eventually canceled.Â
"It's disappointing to get rained out. The course was in great shape," said Head Coach Todd Lawton. "It just couldn't handle this much water, and the forecast for the next 24 hours isn't looking any better."
The Spartans are returning today to prepare for the UAB-hosted GMAC Invitational in Birmingham, Alabama, at the Limestone Springs Golf Club, beginning on Sunday.
