Louisville, Ky. – Making the trip to Kentucky, USC Upstate cross country competed in the SWAGS Louisville Cross Country Classic this morning, running against top competition.
Overall, Head Coach
Carson Blackwelder was impressed with both teams, stating, "We saw a lot of good racing today. In these big races, you have to go out fast and put yourself in an uncomfortable spot to beat people."
In the men's 8k race,
Sam Shimanskiy led the way, finishing with a time of 25:03. Shimanskiy's time was a PR and now ranks second all-time in school history.
Nick Brooks was another notable performance, setting a new PR with his time of 26:00. Head Coach
Carson Blackwelder said, "We saw PRs (Personal Records) for our top 4 guys.
Nick Brooks had a huge PR and negative split the race to move from our 8th runner at the 3 ½ miles to our 3rd runner at the finish."
