Women's Basketball, Remaining on the Road, Faces Second Straight SEC Foe, Travelling to No. 20 Kentucky

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Wrapping the team's two-game road swing against teams from the Southeastern Conference and facing the final of three Power-Four programs on the team's schedule, USC Upstate women's basketball heads north for a meeting with No. 20 Kentucky. The Spartans and Wildcats meet inside Historic Memorial Coliseum at 6:30 p.m. ET Wednesday.

The game marks the fifth meeting between the two clubs as the sides meet for the third consecutive campaign. The Wildcats, the first NCAA Division I opponent for Upstate following its transition to the level, lead the series 5-0 with all five contests played in Lexington, Ky.

USC Upstate: Knocking down four of six attempts from beyond the arc, redshirt sophomore guard Cassie Gallagher poured in a game-high 20 points Monday at Georgia. The game, Gallagher's second career 20-plus point scoring performance, made her the first Spartan since McKinley Brooks-Sumpter versus Alabama on Dec. 2, 2020, to score 20 or more points versus a Power-Four opponent. Gallagher leads the Spartans in scoring, averaging 13.0 points per game, while shooting 47.1 percent (16-of-34) from the field and 53.8 percent (7-of-13) from three.

Kentucky: Leading the Wildcats with 10 blocks on the campaign, junior forward Clara Strack headlines a Kentucky defensive group that leads the NCAA in blocks per game, averaging 10.33 per contest. On the offensive side, she leads the team in scoring, averaging 17.0 points per game while averaging a double-double as she averages 11.0 rebounds per game. Strack shoots 55.9 percent (19-of-34) from the field on the young season.
