Baseball's Final Midweek Contest Comes with Trip to the Lowcountry to Face College of Charleston

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Hitting the road for the final time for midweek competition, USC Upstate baseball treks to the Lowcountry for its first meeting with College of Charleston since the 2022 season, meeting the Cougars on Patriots Point Tuesday evening for a 6 p.m. ET first pitch. The Spartans look to draw closer in a series that sees College of Charleston hold the slight edge, seven wins to five.

USC Upstate: Reaching safely in all three games of the Spartans' series versus Presbyterian, sophomore shortstop Vance Sheahan extended his team-leading reached base streak to 39 games, the longest known streak in the program's Division I era (2007-pres.). He enters the midweek leading Upstate in hits and stolen bases, recording 75 and 24, respectively. His season stolen base total sits one steal shy of tying the D1 era record set by Easton Cullison during the 2023 season.

College of Charleston: One of two Cougar regulars hitting north of .300 on the season, senior outfielder Dariyan Pendergrass enters Tuesday's game hitting .311, tying for the team lead with 57 hits. On the basepaths, he leads College of Charleston and the CAA in stolen bases, swiping 34, a total that ranks 13^th in the NCAA.

Closing the regular season, USC Upstate heads north as the Ingles I-26 Rivalry Series concludes for the 2024-25 academic year. The Spartans travel to UNC Asheville for a three-game set beginning Thursday at 5 p.m. ET before meeting Friday at 2 p.m. and Saturday at noon.
