GREENSBORO, N.C. – USC Upstate baseball's
Johnny Sweeney and
Scott Campbell have added some additional hardware to their standout seasons as both earned American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings All-Region honors, the ABCA announced Tuesday morning. The duo is the sixth and seventh Spartans in program history to feature as All-Region selections, the first since the 2021 season.
Sweeney, a senior from Millstadt, Ill., is the Atlantic All-Region First Team designated hitter after ranking second in the region with 82 RBI, an Upstate single-season record. The program's first Dick Howser Trophy Semifinalist finished the year posting a .345/.500/.701 slash line, supplementing his line with 15 doubles and 18 home runs.
Campbell, a redshirt junior from Macon, Ga., is an Atlantic All-Region Second Team outfielder, having led the Spartans with a .388 batting average, ranking third in the Big South in 2025 and second in the program's Division I era (2007-pres.). He collected 73 hits, 71 runs, 11 doubles, 11 home runs, 54 RBI, and 21 stolen bases to complement his batting average.
As the program's third First Team All-Region selection—joining Matt Goyea (2005) and Michael Kohn (2006)—Sweeney is eligible for ABCA/Rawlings All-America honors, to be announced on June 13.
