CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Leading Upstate to a pair of wins over teams sitting in second place in the Big South Conference standings last week, USC Upstate women's basketball's Cassie Gallagher notched her second career Big South Player of the Week honor, the league announced Monday afternoon.
Â
Gallagher, a Cookeville, Tenn., native, tied for the Spartans' scoring lead in wins over Radford (57-52 on Feb. 18) and Longwood (65-63 [2 OT] on Feb. 21), posting 11 and 16 points, respectively, in balanced scoring efforts for the Spartans. For the week, she averaged 13.5 points—shooting 37.0 percent from the field and 25.0 percent from three—4.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 1.0 steals, and 0.5 blocks per game.
Â
In Upstate's double-overtime win over Longwood, she scored all 16 of her points in the second half (nine markers) and overtime (seven markers), leading Upstate to its first double-overtime win since the 1994-95 season.
Â
Earning her second Big South Player of the Week nod of the 2025-26 campaign, Gallagher is the first Spartan since Upstate joined the league to earn multiple Player of the Week honors from the conference. She becomes the ninth different Spartan in program history to win multiple conference Player of the Week honors, joining Deedra Howard, Valerie Scott, Heather Abrams, Tammy Smith, Yakeeshia Ross, Danielle Edwards, Tee'Ara Copney, and Brittany Starling.
