
Upstate Softball returns to the Palmetto State for a midweek doubleheader at the College of Charleston

MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. - Following a four-game slate in the Sunshine state going 2-2 against Central Michigan, USC Upstate Softball continues their road trip returning to the Palmetto State for a Wednesday evening twin-bill in the Lowcountry at the College of Charleston.Â
OverviewÂ
Snatching two wins at Madeira Beach against MAC Opponent, Central Michigan, the Spartans make the first of two trips to the Lowcountry (their second being Big South weekend series at Charleston Southern) taking on the College of Charleston on Wednesday, March 11 with first pitch for game one scheduled for 3:00 P.M. and game two to follow at 5:00 P.M. Eastern time. The College of Charleston comes off a three-game series with Monmouth where the Cougars swept the series and begin their midweek slate beginning with Appalachian State and following with USC Upstate the following day. Senior Outfielder, Taliyah Thomas led Upstate through four games of action going 6-for-11 at bat, a seven RBI weekend, one home run, two stolen bases, one sacrifice fly and batted .545 through the contests. Freshman, Anna Dickinson went 2-0 in the circle, pitching a complete game and striking out three batters.Â

Upstate: Junior Shortstop, Abby Polk appeared and started in four games through the week of Mar. 2-8th where she was second on the team, batting .455, going 5-for-11 at the plate, added a double and a triple, swiped a base, one RBI, and defensively added nine putouts. Polk continues to make strides with a .333 batting average on the season, 19 hits, 21 runs scored, four doubles, one triple, added her first two collegiate home runs, 11 RBI, second on Upstate with 10 stolen bases, and a .544 slugging percentage. Abby Polk is a player who knows how to get the job done where her number is called and looks to keep Upstate in the win column in the Wednesday doubleheader against the Cougars.Â
College of Charleston: Freshman Outfielder, Bronwyn Conroy has opened her collegiate career on a high note being second on the team with a .375 batting average, first with 30 hits, 22 runs scored, two doubles, two triples, eight RBI, and leads with 19 stolen bases. Conroy has been a CAA Rookie of the Week following her first two weekends of play and adds a spark defensively with 20 putouts and a .955 fielding percentage. Conroy leads the Cougars with nine multi-hit games and adds three multi-RBI games. As the College of Charleston looks to host Upstate, Conroy will be a player to keep an eye on. Â

Following doubleheader action against the Cougars, Upstate Softball will have the weekend to refresh and recharge then return to the field for a doubleheader slate, running it back against Furman University on Tuesday, March 17th in Greenville, South Carolina at 3:00 & 5:00 P.M. Eastern time.Â
