Baseball Continues Road Swing, Beginning Four-Game SEC Stretch Tuesday at South Carolina

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – For the first time during the 2026 campaign, USC Upstate baseball faces a single midweek contest, continuing its nine-game road swing and beginning a four-game stretch against foes from the Southeastern Conference with a return to the Palmetto State, hitting the capital for a clash with South Carolina. The Spartans and Gamecocks meet for the 19^th time in Upstate's Division I era (2007-pres.), meeting for the fifth straight season with a 6:30 p.m. first pitch time Tuesday.

Pitcher: Taking the ball for the Spartans Tuesday evening, sophomore left-handed pitcher Max Kaplan makes his third straight midweek start, boasting a 2-0 record and 0.00 ERA in his two starts. He's turned in back-to-back quality starts for Upstate, tossing 12.0 innings while surrendering six hits and no runs while striking out 13. On the season at large, factoring in two additional relief appearances, Kaplan pitches to a 1.32 ERA over 13.2 innings of work.

Position Player: Leading the Spartans at the plate this season, redshirt sophomore catcher Tyler Lang enters the midweek, posting a .448 batting average over nine games. Of his 13 hits this season, five have gone for extra bases, four doubles and a home run. Sunday against Georgia Southern, Lang tied a career-high with three hits, including his first home run of the season.

South Carolina
Pitcher: Earning the start Tuesday for South Carolina, sophomore left-hander Logan Prisco makes his first career start for the Gamecocks following three relief appearances. He owns a 3.86 ERA over 4.2 innings of work during her three outings, striking out five batters. A transfer from Florence-Darlington Tech, Prisco struck out 82 hitters over 69.2 innings last season.

Position Player: One of three Gamecocks to start all 11 games this season, fifth-year senior catcher Talmadge LeCroy fashions a .410 average with a team-best 16 hits on the season. He's collected five extra base hits, three doubles and two home runs, while registering seven RBI. LeCroy also leads South Carolina in on-base percentage, posting a .511 clip with seven walks and one HBP.
