Three-Game Series Featuring Last Season's Big South Baseball Championship Game Opponents Brings Baseball Back to Cleveland S. Harley Park Against Charleston Southern

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Returning to Cleveland S. Harley Park following its latest five-game road swing, USC Upstate baseball hosts Charleston Southern—a rematch of last season's Big South Baseball Championship Game—for a three-game league set this weekend. The Spartans carry a 24-18 advantage in the series into the latest meetings between the clubs, as Upstate won all four meetings a year ago.

His two relief victories rank second on the club, trailing redshirt freshman right-hander Jacob Kirby's three. Working out of the pen, Torres carries a 2.08 ERA over 4.1 innings of work, collecting four strikeouts. On the season, he's punched out a team-best 37 hitters.

Position Player: Heading the offense in Tuesday's 18-11 midweek victory at Western Carolina, redshirt sophomore catcher Tyler Lang collected a career-high five RBI in the contest. He finished the game 2-for-5 at the plate, launching a three-run homer in the first inning, delivering Upstate a lead it wouldn't surrender, before adding an RBI groundout and an RBI single later in the contest. Lang enters the weekend with a .345/.456/.591 slash line and leads the club with six home runs.

Pitcher: Taking the ball in the series opener for the Buccaneers last weekend against Presbyterian, junior righty Titus Von Kapff tossed a complete game shutout, the first for a Charleston Southern pitcher since March 2021. He scattered six hits and nine baserunners across his 9.0 innings of work, striking out five. Von Kapff owns a 4-2 record and 4.50 ERA over a team-high 46.0 innings this season, striking out 31 batters against 18 walks.
