Baseball's Four-Game Homestand Continues Tuesday at Fluor Field at the West End Against Elon

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – For the second time this season, USC Upstate baseball hosts a midweek contest away from campus, continuing its four-game homestand against Elon Tuesday evening at Fluor Field at the West End in the first of two meetings between the clubs this season. Tuesday's game marks the fifth consecutive campaign the Spartans have hosted at the home of the Greenville Drive, bringing the third Division I era (2007-pres.) meeting with the Phoenix to the park for a 6 p.m. ET first pitch.

USC Upstate: Homering in three consecutive games in the Spartans' sweep of Gardner-Webb, fifth-year senior designated hitter Johnny Sweeney became the program's Division I era (2007-pres.) career home run leader, hitting his 31st career long ball in game two. He collected four-plus RBI in all three games of the series against the Runnin' Bulldogs, totaling 14 for the weekend, including a season-high six Saturday. On the season, his posts a .255/.420/.523 slash line with a team-best 10 home runs and 44 RBI.

Elon: Leading the CAA in the category, graduate student outfielder Brian DuRoff enters Tuesday's midweek with 17 doubles, tops among Phoenix this season. He paces his club in batting average, hitting .321—the lone Elon regular hitting better than .300. DuRoff also leads his team in RBI with 42, 12 more runs batted in than the next closest teammate.
