Men's Golf Sweeps Conference Weekly Awards

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – USC Upstate's Daniel Price has been named the Big South Men's Golfer of the Week for events played Sept. 3-9, while teammate Pete Chanha is the Men's Freshman of the Week honoree, it was announced today.

In his first collegiate tournament, Price carded a 7-under 209 (69-71-69) at the Golfweek Fall Challenge (par 72, 7,024 yards). He drained a tournament-high 19 birdies, paced the 86-player field in par-4 scoring at 6-under, and was 5-under on the par-5 layouts. Price helped guide the Spartans to a fourth-place team finish.

Chanha finished with an even-par 216 (77-70-69) at the Golfweek Fall Challenge to tie for 23rd. He improved every round and was Upstate's second-best finisher. Chanha was 1-under on the par-3 holes as well as 4-under on the par-5s, and tallied 13 birdies -- including five in both his second and final rounds.

The Spartans return to action on September 20-22, traveling to Birmingham, Ala. to participate in the GMAC Invitational.
