SPARTANBURG, S.C. – USC Upstate men's soccer steps away from Big South Conference play Tuesday evening as the Spartans travel to Elon, North Carolina, to face Elon. Kickoff from Rudd Field is scheduled for 7 p.m. with the match available on FloCollege.

Upstate enters Tuesday following a 2-0 setback against Longwood Saturday evening in Farmville. The Spartans generated 10 shots in the match, placing five one goal, while holding a 9-4 advantage in corner kicks. Tolu Fabamifobee led the Upstate attack with three shots, including two on goal, while Oscar Kelly placed both of his attempts on frame. Goalkeeper Jarrett Wuerslin finished the match with four saves.
Through 10 matches, the Spartans sit at 3-7-0 overall and 1-1-0 in Big South play. Christian Cook leads Upstate with four goals and eight points, while Josh Zawlocki has scored three goals. Fabamifobee has added two goals and two assists for six points. Wuerslin has played every minute in goal for the Spartans this season, recording 36 saves and two clean sheets.
SCOUTING ELON
Elon enters Tuesday with a 5-2-2 overall record and a 1-1-2 mark in CAA play. The Phoenix have won back-to-back matches, earning a 2-1 road victory over Davidson before defeating Duke 1-0 Friday night in Durham. The win over Duke marked Elon's first road victory against the Blue Devils.
The Phoenix have scored 17 goals through nine matches, with 12 different players finding the back of the net. Jahmir Flowers leads Elon with four goals and nine points, while Dominik Renz has added three goals and eight points. Oscar Tonidandel has recorded six points and has contributed five points over Elon's last five matches.
Elon has also been strong defensively, recording four clean sheets this season. Drew Hartman has started six matches in goal, including all four of Elon's CAA contests, while Mikolaj Lenarcik has made three starts.
Tuesday marks the second all-time meeting between Upstate and Elon. The programs met for the first time last season at Rudd Field, with the Phoenix earning a 1-0 victory behind a first-half goals from Renz.
Following Tuesday's non-conference match up, the Spartans return home Saturday, Oct 3, to resume Big South play against Radford. Kickoff from County Univeristy Soccer Stadium is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
