2018-19 (Senior): Played in 29 games with 27 starts during his senior season. He averaged 28.3 minutes per game with 14.9 points per game. He scored a total of 431 points on the season and he led the team in scoring on 14 different occasions. He scored a season high 35 points in the win over South Carolina State on Dec. 15th. Holmes also had 124 rebounds, 34 assists, 7 blocks, and 17 steals. He led the team in rebounds on 6 different occasions with a high of 10 in the game against Cal Poly on Nov. 24th.Team rankings: 2nd in points (431), 2nd in scoring average (14.9), 5th in 3-point percentage (.355), 2nd in FT percentage (.826), 3rd in rebounds (124), 5th in assists(34), and 1st in minutes played (820). 2017-18 (Junior): Appeared in all 32 games and made 17 starts...Was first on the team in scoring averaging a career-high 15.5 points per game…Added 3.7 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game…Played in an average of 26.5 minutes per game…Ranked 10th in the ASUN in scoring…Became the 23rd player in school history to reach the 1,000 career point mark scoring a career-high 39 points against Lipscomb…Recorded first career double-double versus Lipscomb with a career-high 12 rebounds…Set new career-highs against Lipscomb in minutes played (48), field goals made (13), field goals attempted (25), free throws made (13) and free throws attempted (14)…His 39 points against Lipscomb tied Ty Greene for the third-most points in a game in program history…Added a 34-point performance in a home win against Stetson…Scored in double-figures 21 times including 11 of the last 12 games…Tied his career-best of four assists twice against Bowling Green and Jacksonville.
2016-17 (Sophomore): Appeared in 30 games and registered 14 starts…Averaged 21.9 minutes of playing time per game…Was fourth on the team in scoring with 8.9 points per game and had a 40.0 percent (88-of-220) shooting mark…Was the team’s best free throw shooter with an 82.8 percent (53-of-64) clip at the charity stripe…Scored in double-figures 10 times include 20 or more points four times…Had a season-high 24 points twice against The Citadel and Stetson…Made a career-best 10-of-11 free throw attempts at Stetson…Grabbed a career-high eight rebounds during a road win at Charlotte...Recorded nine made field goals, a career-high, at The Citadel during the Holy City Hoops Classic…Tied his career-high of four assists at The Citadel and three steals in the home opener against Mars Hill.
2015-16 (Freshman): Was an ASUN All-Freshman Team performer after leading Upstate in scoring during his freshman season…Played in all 32 games and led the team with 29 starts…Averaged 12.3 points and 2.6 rebounds per game, and posted 25.0 minutes of playing time per contest…Was also first on the team, and fifth in the ASUN, in free-throw shooting at 80.0% (64-of-80)…Had a team-high 21 double-digit scoring performances led by a career-high 26 points against The Citadel during the Palmetto State Shootout…Tied for a team-best five 20-point scoring efforts including four straight versus Winthrop, Georgia Southern, The Citadel and Toccoa Falls…Grabbed a season-high six rebounds against Winthrop…Went a combined 17-for-18 at the free-throw line in back-to-back games against Georgia Southern and The Citadel; made all eight free throws versus Georgia Southern and was 9-of-10 against The Citadel…Dished out a career-best four assists three times versus Toccoa Falls, Navy and Stetson…Had three steals in a home win over North Greenville.
High School: Graduated from Chesnee High School where he lettered in basketball and played for head coach Andy Pitt…Finished his prep career as one of only two players in South Carolina history to score 3,000 points for his career…Scored over 60 points in a game twice during his senior season, and holds the state record for most free-throws made in a game (27) and a season (290)…Amassed the seventh-most points in a season as a junior scoring 808 and averaging 31.1 points per game…Earned numerous athletic accolades including SCBCA Class AA Player of the Year, Spartanburg Sports Report Area Player of the Year, Region I-AA Player of the Year and First Team All-Area…Is the all-time leading scorer at Chesnee…Participated in the Carolina’s All-Star Classic…Nominee for the McDonald’s All-American Game…Was featured in Sports Illustrated “Faces in the Crowd” on Jan. 26, 2014 after recording 61 points and 20 rebounds in an 83-72 win over Carolina High School.
Personal: Born on October 3, 1996…Parents are Elliott and Sharon Holmes…Both of his parents played basketball collegiately at USC Upstate where his father, Elliott, still ranks 10th all-time in career scoring average with 15.1 points in 28 games from 1985-86.
