High School: A four-year letter winner in softball, Kaufman was a key part of leading the Stags to a pair of championships during her high school career... as a freshman she helped BHS to a share of the 7AAAA Region championship before posting sophomore numbers of a .285 batting average, .425 on-base percentage, 20 RBIs and eight stolen bases... Kaufman had her best season as a junior when she batted .320 with an impressive .500 on-base percentage and 26 RBIs to go along with eight steals... that season she helped the Stags rebound from a 13-10 record and led the club to a 22-10 overall record and the 7AAAA District Championship... as a senior her .315 batting average, .475 onbase percentage, 19 RBIs and six stolen bases helped Berkeley produce it’s second consecutive 20-win campaign as the Stags went 20-9... an integral part of the BHS softball program for four years, Kaufman collected her share of individual accomplishments, highlighted by Class AAAA All-State and All-Region selections following her junior season... previously she had been named the Stags “Best Defensive Player” and earned the team’s Gold Glove Award as a sophomore... she concluded her high school playing career by being named the team’s “Best Offensive Player” and “Most Athletic” by the BHS senior class... the latter was for good reason as Kaufman also lettered all four years in basketball for the Stags, earning 7AAAA All-Region honors following her junior and senior seasons... Kaufman has honed her skills outside of her high school career as she has played for the SC Hurricanes for the past fi ve years … she batted .338 in the summer of 2008 and .450 in the fall of that year before producing a .375 average, three homeruns and 14 RBIs in the summer of 2009.
