Three Upstate Distance Runners to Compete at Duke Invitational

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Three USC Upstate distance runners from the men's and women's track and field teams, Emily Tangwar, Matt Henderson and Brent Durden, will travel to Duke University on Friday, April 4 to compete in the Duke Asics Invitational at Wallace Wade Stadium.
Tangwar, who is coming off of a first-place finish in the women's 3000 meters at the 49er Classic on March 22, will be competing in the top flight of the women's 5000 meters at 7:20 p.m. against runners from schools such as North Carolina, Ohio, Coastal Carolina and George Washington.
Tangwar is also currently in the middle of a very successful freshman season which she was named Freshman of the Year and All-Conference in women's cross country and won three events at the A-Sun Indoor Track and Field Championships where she was also named women's Most Outstanding Runner and Most Outstanding Freshman.
Henderson and Durden will be competing in one of the flights of the men's 5000 meters at 9:20 p.m. Henderson, a sophomore, is coming off his best performance of the season at the Weems Baskin Invitational at the University of South Carolina last weekend where he finished sixth in both the men's 800 and 1500 meters. Durden, a junior, was third in the men's 5000 meters last weekend at the Weems Baskin Invitational.
