
Miller Completes Play At 106th North and South Amateur Championship

Pinehurst, N.C. - USC Upstate standout women's golfer Julie Miller completed her second round at the 106th Women's North and South Amateur Championship played at the Pinehurst golf resort. Miller failed to qualify for the match play portion of the tournament.
Miller opened the tournament playing Pinehurst No. 8 and finished the round with a 6-over-par 78. She stood tied for 72nd entering the final stroke play round Tuesday. On Tuesday, Miller turned in an 86 on the world famous and demanding Pinehurst No. 2 course. She finished the stroke play portion of the tournament with a two round total of164, missing the match play portion of the tournament by nine strokes. The top 64 players advanced to the match play portion of the tournament.
Miller, a rising senior from Jeannette, Pa., is a founding member of the USC Upstate women's golf team. She led the team as a freshman in the program's inaugural season and has been a key contributor throughout the last two years as the women's golf team first established itself as a solid program in NCAA Division II and moved to NCAA Division I membership as members of the Atlantic Sun Conference in 2007-08.
Miller has played in 26 tournaments in her career with Upstate. She has two top five individual finishes, both coming during her sophomore season in 2006-07. She also has claimed nine top 10 finishes and turned in 15 top 20 efforts in her three years as a Spartan. She helped lead Upstate to the team tournament titles in the Anderson Invitational and Peach Belt Shootout in 2006-07.
